Background From the moment of his birth, Donghae was destined for one thing: mediocrity. Neither tall nor short, neither heavy nor thin, neither muscular nor skinny. Average in height, average in weight, a straight C student no matter how hard he tried. He seemed cosmically destined to be 100% ordinary. That isn't to say he wasn't loved. No, indeed his parents had all the love in the world for their child. Even when he tried his hardest and failed to be academically sound, they still loved him all the same. It was a happy childhood, all in all. But as time went on and there were others aside from his parents, things changed. Other people tended to ignore him: he was just a face in the crowd, an extra in the movie of life. Being ordinary is a very lonely existence. In high school, he'd dreamed of being an athlete, something he could finally succeed at and stand out. Somehow, though, he always came right in the middle of the pack. Every race, he finished squarely in the middle of all the other times. His high jumps and long jumps? Always in the middle. Frustration on top of loneliness. No one wants a middle-pack athlete. Only the stars. The top of the top. High school passed in a blur, and if he's honest Donghae would rather forget most of it. Since he wasn't gifted enough to get a scholarship of any kind, Donghae shipped himself off to a low-income local college until he had finished his undergraduate studies enough to transfer to Yonsei as a junior. Unfortunately since he had to make ends meet on his own, he took odd jobs anywhere he could to help pay for his classes. It was something exciting, at least. Perhaps at a big name college like this he could finally stand out. That was until admissions referred him to the most average fraternity there was: Delta Tau Delta. Well, things have to change some time, right?
